IMHO - Get the HDC/Traction Control & ABS.

Got my Freelander (3dr XEi Hardback) last week and I'm fortunate enough to live in the Chiltern Hills and have a number of Green Lanes around my village.

I took a trip down a muddy slope dotted with large flint rocks and a couple of ruts running across the track and the Freelander handled it just fine using the HDC. I tried it again without and it was a much more hairy experience - almost took out the gatepost at the bottom !

Mostly my lack of offroad driving skill I guess but the HDC gave me much more control (and a lot more confidence !)

Only 1 problem with the vehicle so far - the tailgate glass lowers itself when I hit 65MPH and refuses to stay up when I raise it using the switch in the centre console ! Also does it occasionally at slow speed when I hit bumps in the road.

It's going into the dealer today so I'm hoping this'll be the end of the problem...

I love driving it though - slightly underpowered but I still cruised to 250 miles on the motorway at 85 yesterday (albeit with the tailgate glass open !)

Good luck

Timo
