Hi Dave,
The price of petrol (and I imagine, diesel-I don't use it and I'm not sure of the local price) varies greatly state to state.

I live in Connecticut and pay $1.279 per gallon for Premium (93 octane). At other gas stations around town the price goes up to $1.339 per gallon. Go figure, it would seem that all the stations want to be competitive but I guess not. And people won't always
drive a couple of miles out of their way to get better prices.

I took a trip out west in April of this year when premium in Connecticut was up to about $1.459 per gallon (premium) and found the lowest price in Iowa for about $1.069 per gallon (premium).

Connecticut has the highest gas tax of any state in the US. As you can imagine, when I travel, especially to adjacent states, I make sure I fill up just before the Connecticut border.

I would suggest checking the American Sutomobile Association's (AAA) internet site as they seem to compile prices throughout the country.

I know that our prices pale in comparison with the UK's. On this same trip in April, there were some folks from the UK driving a 101 and were giddy about the price of gas in the US.

I hope this helps.
Pat
