Thanks for your response. I will be fitting defender style axles (24 spline) and a coil chassis, which may shift the location of the weak component. I noticed there was a significant change in the intermediate shaft diameter from Suffix A (About 1.125")to Suffix B (About 1.75") and beyond. Perhaps there was some other reason for the change?
For and engine, I'm looking into an ACR 2.8l conversion with 177ft/lb of torque, not too excessive so I think this will work fine.
