Series IIA CKD

Posted by Scott on September 20, 1998 at 18:25:39:

Help someone! I am new LR wanna be. Expat, living and working here in the Philippines. I found a 11A, # 24508027 H 241490084A. Motor # and frame # match and the LR is ( as far as I can tell) completly stock.

It appears this is a CKD/SW, but on the data plate inside, RH side, 1974 is stamped. I thought 1971 was cut-off for Series 11A?

Can I bring this beast back to Virginia in a year or so when my contract is up?

Is a CKD more desiralble/ less?

Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. This would be my first LR. What should I expect to pay for it based on the following observations.

Stock, runs good, blows a little oil smoke when you get on it. No bottom end noise. Drives good, stops good, pops out of 3rd occasionally when you get off the gas in a hurry. All gears and 4wd work fine. A little rust on frame extensions, rear bump needs replacing. Forward floor panels rusty, but no holes.

Interior very good with recovered, stock seats. Headliner could use some work. Body near perfect, paint 6/10, tropical roof. White over blue. Good tyres.

I'm looking at 2800.00 US or less.

Thanks

Scott
