I believe what Russel said in his response is correct, you are simply misreading it. Everything on the Left of the figure 8 is in diff-lock, everything to the Right is normal but still permanent 4x4. Forward is Low (diff-lock or not) Back is High (diff-lock or not) between forward and back on either the left or the right, it will be in neutral. Once you get out and experience it a few times you will see. It took me a little practice to get everything working smoothly from one to the other in the right situations.
