Although the holiday-season in ICELAND is over already, I hope I can give you some usefull informations:
To my mind, it's VERY recommendable to fix a rased-air-intake on your 90 before going to Iceland, especially when you plan a trip to the highlands . I spent there one month just a few days ago and can tell you that rivers you have to cross change every day. You do not need one when you don't go to the highlands - simply use the bridges instead of expensive equipment on your Defender.

Me I had too cross dozens of rivers, they were from 10 to about 110,120 cm deep. We also had great weather with little rain, so imagine what happens when the it's raining for a week or so.

Be sure to waterproof the engine as well. Use a lot of grease to seal all your cables under the bonnet. Seal the holes in the bulkhead and - important, those in the battery box !!

There is a great enterprise in Germany that sells a very good raised air intake as well, I bought mine there and was absolutely happy with it. I even could install it myself, with my two left hands :

Hope to have helped you !

Michael
