Piss-poor alternator

G'day,
i've got a 1994 D110 (300Tdi). I've had it for a year. I replaced the battery about 4 months ago, but have found that it has lost some oomph. A recharge fixed it. I checked the alternator output, and with high beam on, it just scrapes 12.3V. Is my alternator sick, or have LR fitted a wimp?
