I went to a local starter reconditioner who I have been using for 11 years and showed him the previously fitted pre-engaged starter. He said that it was a proper fitment for a Landy, and supplied a recon unit. The teeth are definitely different to the inertia type although it still doesn't explain the bypassed solenoid in the back of the engine bay. Perhaps I have a different engine? Anyway, I broke the positive lead getting the old unit off and haven't had a chance top test my new unit yet, although it is all back together. I'll let you know how I got on! Many thanks again, |
