The flywheels appear the same, the part of the bellhouseing which bolts to the rear of the block is different (two bolt holes for the petrol starter and 3 for the diesel. The pitch of the straight cut ring gears appeared the same. Petrol and diesel gearboxes are the same. I was recently thinking of fiting a diesel starter to a petrol engine and I knew I would have to change the housing into which the starter bolts but everything else seems the same. I am as confused as you are. Does this help? Michael
