It shouldn't be difficult to manufacture a starting handle out oa steel bar, round section: just look at the nut in front of the crankshaft and measure diameter and of the inner hole, the handle has to fit into that hole. Then cross drill the end of the bar and fit a plug which protrudes as necessary to engage in the grooves on the starting dog. Then make 2 90° turns and fit a tube sleeve so that it can roll over tha handle as you crank.
As for usage, having a diesel engine I must say that it is impossible to start the engine with that handle if the battery is really dead: in a couple of occasions, though, when the battery was too low to crank sufficiently, the aid of someone else hand cranking gave that little more speed enough to fire the engine. But do not grasp it tight with your fingers, beware of backstrokes! In any case it is very helpful when adjusting tappets clearance.
