My friends 4.6 range rover used a lot of water.
I suspected head gasket.Dealer took of the heads-not without damaging a lot of connectors-and had the following remark 'le moteur est fondue' .The repair would cost
12000 swiss francs,appr 7500$..
This sounded like a little to much to me,so I borrowed a heavy trailer and drove 500 miles to collect the car in Geneva.Car is running again for less then $1000.

Unbelievable that an appointed dealer tries to rip of its
customers!

My advice:depending on cost,try to get a second opinion!
And,be especially carefull in choosing an appointed
SERVICECENTER
