Have '57 Model 88 LR. Will not shift into 3rd or 4th gear. Reverse, 1st & 2nd are OK. Have removed shifter levers and selectors. No visible damage, no metal in oil. The 3rd & 4th sync clutch will not slide on main shaft. My question is: does the main shaft remove thru the rear cover (held on with 6 bolts) or must I pull the transmission out and take the shaft out the front? Help!, I'm tired of walking.
