My name is Marwan Z. and I am an owner of 1997 Discovery.

I am very dissatisfied, if not outraged by the very poor quality and reliability of my 97 Discovery.

I leased my discovery in May of 1997. During the first hour of ownership, the Discovery broke down on the freeway while my wife was driving it home. The LRNA Dealership refused to take the car back and they said that I own it now and don't worry it is under warranty. That was just the beginning of the problems.

The car now has on it 16K miles and it has being repaired for the following failures:

- Fuel level sensor failure. The sensor is located in the gas tank with the fuel pump. This item was DOA since it was dysfunctional when I leased the vehicle and caused me to run out of gas while the gas gauge indicated FULL.
- Failure to start due to computer error that caused ignition circuit lockup -- activation of immobilization strategy. This problem required reprogramming of the computer.
- Failure to lock center differential which happened to me when I mostly needed this function while I was off-road with poor traction (at a significant slope). Dealer needed to open and repack center differential.
- Recall for installation of fused link in electric line for cruise control circuit. Potential false engaging of driver air bag while driving with cruise control.
- Recall for oil pressure switch replacement.
- Oil leaks caused by faulty gaskets. Valve cover gaskets changed.
- Power steering leaks caused by faulty power steering hose clamps.
- Faulty bulbs in both reverse light and right rear turn signal light.
- Loose rear cargo door caused by loss of door latch alignment causing a very loud rear noise.
- Leak in rear differential.
- Peeling Dashboard from passenger side.

I am very glad that I leased my Discovery. I have another two years to go before my lease is up. I am currently trying to hand over the car to anybody who would take over the lease payments.

I am willing to help in some kind of a campaign to educate the public and warn them of this very poor quality vehicle.

A very Disgruntled Discovery owner
