I agree with Roel on this one. I drive my Discovery along muddy tracks sometimes, and when I get stuck it's usually with the axles scraping the ground. Maybe you're getting the same thing with snow.

I'd recommend always carrying a shovel and next time you get stuck, dig away till the axle is free.
