Jammed gearbox/transfer case??

I have just been given a 1977 Series III LR
The problem is that the car has been stored for 18 months, and now it won't engage gears correctly.
If you depress the clutch, you can select a gear (but only if you are in neutral in the transfer case) If you are in gear in the tranfer case, you can't select a gear.
Any ideas?
Stuck clutch plate? The clutch cylinder has good pressure (at the pedal end anyway!)
