Too many topics&answers on this question !
FWIW: I only wanted a lwb because I'm 6-3; w/friends, the rear would be cramped w/swb. I too, don't do the off-road thing w/seriousness, but needed the ride comfort of the lwb for 'on-road' benefits. Furthermore, the swb rear passenger space has poor door access/ingress-egress for passengers, so I found in the lwb 'no compromise' in this area. I find the generous cabin useful as a place to get dressed, whether snowshoeing, or mtn biking for instance.

It is true the EAS and the general complexity of the modern RRC is 'on the edge' for the DIY'r. I am firmly in that camp, goin' way back. Your 'hands-on experience' will largely indicate your satisfaction+suitability for RR ownership. Hope you have tools and ability to wield them...

RR are famous for punishing inattention to the complex systems that afford its' prowess many owners enjoy. The attitude basically is: take care of it and it will take care of you. They thrive w/care and attention. (Not typically available at the dealer, incidentally) Possible, but not likely...

If you are accustomed to reliable/no care vehicles, the RR will be a character test. If you anticipate its' needs, you will be rewarded. Make no mistake, there is nothing like LR. That does not mean they are appropriate to you...
Best for the new year and your search...dgj 95 @ 96k
