For a snow situation, a limitted slip is generally better. A full locker tends to spin both wheels together causing the axle to slide sideways if there is any side slope. For cost and functionality, the Detroit True-Trac is probably the best choice for a LSD. It is what is termed a Torsen type differential. It comprises one worm gear driving another.
