Range Rover Suspension Fault

Posted by Steven on December 26, 2001 at 14:19:03:

Dear All,

I have a 97 Range Rover 4.0, (new model). Over the last few weeks I have been having intermittent trouble with the Electronic Air Suspension. After leaving the car overnight the suspension settles on the stop bumps. When the car is started the height indicator LED lites indicating the car is in it's lowest position, (correctly). The standard height LED flashes, indicating that this is where the air suspension would like to be. The suspension does not rise and the standard height LED flashes indefinitely. The compressor is running but the valve relays beside the compressor do not make their usual clicking noises. There are no warning lights on and no fault messages displayed on the consul. Once the ignition is switched off the valve relays all start clicking, (normal operation I think), implying that the valves are okay.

I have had to drive the car, (gently), twice and eventually the suspension does rise. This problem appears to be intermittent as some days the suspension is fine. I have never had the suspension settle on the stop bumps while driving. This problem only seems occur if the car has been left for a period of time.

I have cleaned all the fuses and checked the wiring in the EAS housing.

Has anybody had a similar problem?
Where is the EAS ECU on a right hand drive, (British), Range Rover?
Where are the relays for the EAS?
Where is the fuse(s) for the EAS?

Any assistance on this would be appreciated.

Steven
