| Check engine light came on at exactly 50000 miles Posted by Mike on December 21, 2001 at 10:12:54: Hello, Immediately after my 96 4.0 turned over 50000 miles, the check engine light came on. I am wondering if this is coincidence and that there is really something wrong with the car? Or perhaps the vehicles computer is programmed to display this message at 50K miles as a precaution that you get the car in for a tune up and that there isn't something major wrong with the car. Does anyone out there know? Thanks Mike
