To get at the other side of the aerial (antenna), you ned to remove the plastic splash-guard under the wing (fender).
This is not too difficult once you have worked out where all the fastenings are; mostly screws around the periphery into the inner wing and it is also trapped in the little re-inforcing stay at the bottom rear. 6mm dia bolt (10 mm a/f) if I remember right. The plastic guard then has to be distorted to get it out from under. As with all things plastic, they handle a lot better if warm.
Once this is out of the way you can see what to do. However be careful to check that the wire to the radio is not clamped/tangled. Trace it through and free it as necessary.
Incidentally if you have any intentions of fitting a CB, now is the time to make preparations. A 'DV' mount will just fit in the standard hole. A CB aerial will make quite an acceptable AM/FM aerial if you wish to use it like this.
On my disco, I've inserted a special splitter box so I can use the CB and the radio off the same aerial. While this is not the very best CB implementation possible, it is very neat and quite ok for local work.
