Here are the answers to your questions - hope you can help! Step 1. What alt. was on there originally? MOST IMPORTANT The original alternator (that was not going) was an INGRAM (made in australia). Step 2. Does the new Bosch 55Ahave one terminal (besides the B+) and it is labelled DF or is the there a "T" socket with two terminals and does it have the voltage regulator at the back??? Both alternators (the INGRAM and the BOSCH) have a bolt on post (with a thread) for a red wire (labelled B+) and then a smaller brass male socket for a female "quick connect" wire to clip on to (labelled D+). When I disconnected the old INGRAM alternator, I yanked the red (thinner wire) quick connect off, and then unbolted a thicker red wire off the threaded post. I re-wired the new alternator the same way. The ingram alternator has a black plastic thing bolted (with two bolts) on the back - I assume this is the voltage regulator. Step 3. If it has only a B+ and a DF does it have a small round brass terminal with a black rounf socket with two hooks? Neither alternator has this. Step 4. Disconnecting the battery with the alternator running may have blown the alternator. Oh. Well, it wasn't charging anyway! Sorry. Made a typo. Battery has thick red and thick black wire. Hope this helps Peter! cheers, Alastair
