I guess from your message you mean 2.25 litre (2 1/4)? Spoke with Big Simon at the Horham 4x4 club meet last night, he has 1986 One Ten, originally fitted with normally aspirated 2 1/4 diesel, subsequently fitted with 300 Tdi and now sporting a 200 Tdi. Read his following message and you will understand why the 300 Tdi was binned! DONT BOTHER! 300 Tdi's are a bit of a mixed bag. Pre 97 engines have a host of problems - most related to breaking cam belts. All the problems crop up before 50K miles, so buy a post 96 or pre 97 with >50K miles. Fitting to a standard box (LT77 or LT85) is possible, but 3 bolt holes don't line up - easy to drill holes in the bell housing though. (Note 200 Tdi fits LT77 box with no mods). I would be inclined to buy a 2nd hand 200 Tdi. There are far fewer problems and you won't notice the 7 bhp difference in power. I had a crap 300 Tdi, scrapped it and fitted a 200 Tdi & never looked back! You can contact Big Simon at : BIGSI@CIX.COMPULINK.CO.UK
