1990 Range Rover 3.9 Technical Question

Posted by Roverbean on April 06, 1997 at 18:34:13:

Quickie technical question for anyone out there that can help.... I've got
a stutter at speeds over 45 mph... thought it might be bad gas, but no dice...
she's solid at idle speeds. A while back we freed up a bent ignition
advance and lubed it, etc. Any hints at what to look at before I take her
to the dealer for the thorough checkout?? I'm hoping it's not the distributor,
but it may be. Hurt me for $500 if it is.

Also... anyone else with the winter problem of getting soaked or fouled plugs?
Happened to me two winters in a row. I've got a new battery and a new
alternator, and I'm hoping that's it. Perhaps I'll have the fuel injection
system checked out.. maybe the mixture's too rich. We've also got funky
oxygenated fuel in NJ in the winter, and I know that's partly the culprit.

Just looking for someone with similar experiences or someone who can help
out in way. It would be much appreciated.
