My 1996 Range Rover 4.0 SE just had the CHECK ENGINE light come on and has started having problems idling at the same time. The engine often dies when I come to a stop. The dealer is over two hours away and the local repair shops can't read the GEMS II diagnostic port on the vehicle. The problem is hopefully as simple as replacing one of the many sensors that send information back to the ECU unit. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can diagnose and repair the problem?
