Which spec engine do you have? They're not all the same.
Only certain V8s have "restricters" behind the carbs, I doubt yours has them. If its fitted with 175CDs... I'd fit a 4-bbl Holley, new camshaft/lifters/chrome-molly pushrods/cam chain-gear set (HP)... and let her rip.
