I bought new series RangeRover (2.5 DSE Manual) in November '97, now several months later, gearbox seized. Delivered to Rover Garage in Faro, to join 4 others with the same predicament! Took a week to get new box under guarantee. The problem stems from the box oil cooler. The interface between the box and the tubes going to the cooler at the front start to leak at the nut junction. I was informed that the box can loose all the oil quite quickly on a decent run, they also told me that this problem is not normally picked up on a normal service! There is no warning light informing of low box oil, so beware! Watch for your engine temp increase a bit as the box starts to sieze!
