Do yourself a favour and forget the Lucas 16AC - (I think its a 37A output alternator - but I may stand corrected)
Get a Bosch Unit - more relaible in my opinion. Only two wires to connect - from the alternator B+ terminal to the battery (charge wire) and the other to the dash "idiot" light. I usually install a Bosch 50A with internal regulator.

Re the previous post you can also rewire the internals on an alternator to give 120V AC plus and use it as a cheap arc welder :-)
