I think you've answered your own question :"Lifted", which I suspect takes the shaft angle out of the design spec. for the coupling. Remember these things have no bearings as such. Their action relies on the deformation of the rubber, which will be considerably increased if the operating angle is changed.
Someone with more direct experience might suggest you retrofit a conventional uj equipped shaft/flange.
