Apart from air bags, I have been told that the new rules also require fenders that have some absorbtion capabilities. As someone else has mentioned, the new Defender (or whatever its called) will be designed to meet US regs. Look on the bright side - you had the NAS (V8)Defender for a period of time when we couldn't get them in the UK. Now, as a 50th Anniversary edition, we are getting 375 of the same specification (and at a cost of $42,000!). At least you must have a reasonable choice on the second hand market!
