In my opinion the design of the Disco has well stood the test of time and beats many other makes in terms of robustness. It performs well under varous conditions and is fit to withstand a lot of abuse. The execution is, however, rather patchy. A typical LR manufacturing culture dictates that if the angry users are not storming the factory in hordes, there's no need to change anything in this time honoured British icon. Hence the oil and water leaks, squeeking or peeling dashboards, pathetic panel fitting tolerances, etc. All these problems can be sorted one way or another, it's up you if you want a vehicle that will run perfectly from day one up to five or six years and then suddenly starts falling to pieces, like most Japanese cars, or a vehicle that initially needs some input but then will run and run and run.
