Freelander IS coming to the USA!!! and info on new Discovery!! Posted by Leon on August 03, 1998 at 11:25:51: Hi, The Freelander WILL be imported into the US!!! It'll come with the Rover 2.5 KV6 engine coupled with a 5 speed auto gearbox, probably in early 2000. New Discovery, The new Discovery will be unvieled here in the UK in October, It'll look much the same as is, but everything has changed underneath! it will be longer to accomadate a forward facing third row of seats, it'll be fitted with a all new 5 cylinder diesel (not in the US, you'll get the 4 litre V8) code named Storm. It will feature self leveling air suspension at the rear, with a "active roll control system" which will only allow 0.5g of roll. It'll still have a transfer box with high and low ratios (unlike Freelander) but will be fitted with Freelanders HDC (Hill Descent Control) system. and it will cost more!!!! Yes the Freelander is the Camal Trophy vehicle for the future and bloody good it is too! Leon.
