Thanks for the reply , i have double checked and both my water and oil temp are cappilary type rather than electric,
as you look at the dash clocks the speedo is on the left and the right clock has oil temp, water temp and fuel.
the clocks are made by British Jaeger, my guess it is an odd item as it was a military vehicle , once again thanks for the help
