Freelander in the Camel Trophy ??? Is this a joke ?

You'll have to excuse me here....hope I don't offend any Land Roverites...but... I just read the Freelander is going to be the vehicle for the Camel Trophy !!! All the reviews of the Freelander I have read have found it to be a fine vehilce, but "NOT capable off-road" ! What gives ? Is Land Rover sacrificing the integrity of the Camel Trophy in order to push their new mini-suburban cruiser? I know the Trophy race was ALWAYS a marketing tool ( i mean, c'mon...it's called the Camel -cigarette- Trophy race ) , but this is too much ! The Freelander is going to carry on the tradition of the Defender ??? The Disco in the Trophy was bad enough, but this? Maybe they will have a stage of the race where you pick up the kids from football practice and drop them off at the mall ! Is it just me ? Or is the Land Rover community outraged by the Freelander being used in the Camel Trophy ??? I was naive enough to think that the Trophy was one of the greatest vehicle supported offroad events and one of the last great adventures left in the world. I guess this year it REALLY will be a challenging adventure.....in a Freelander that is ! ...thank god for those 110's following behind
