My 1996 build date, 1997 purchase date TDI has had 53 faults so far. Some are minor but things like gearbox replacement at 20000klm, new breaks, dash removed twice, fan belt replaced 4 times, fan assembly replaced, all pullys replaced, fuel system removed and cleaned, and a very creaky dashboard has led me to beleive that you should by a Toyota. The new gearbox now has the same problem of not selecting gears as the old one. The interior noise is 8 decabels more than any other one I have driven. The dealer is un helpful, Rover Australia won't reply to my letters or calls and Rover UK won't reply to my letters. So never ever ever ever consider a Land Rover....
