did you check the small hoses that links the injector nozzles together and brings excess fuel back on top of the paper filter? Any leak in that line will probably let some air enter the system. Old series II had a solid metal line,a very practical and dependable solution, while the most recent plastic hoses may with time crack and cause leaks. Hope it may help, since air in fuel lines may be very deceptive. My series III used to run OK if the engine was started every day but if you gave her a couple of days' rest, you had to prime and bleed: the problem finally disappeared, misteriously as it had come!
