WARNING: Plastic Parts MAY Fail... Posted by MG/WCB on June 29, 1998 at 23:20:09:
WARNING: Recently we've had a number of Range Rovers come in with leaking radiator filler plugs leaking (plastic type screwed directly into radiator tank & upper heater rail). Days ago I was hosed with hot anti-freeze (car had just come off freeway) when one of these plugs exploded as I touched it. Hot anti-freeze in the face is no fun. Damage was minor, but my sons day-care worker now needs plastic surgery to her face after she attempted to remove cap/plug from overheating engine. Check & REPLACE Plastic Plug & O-Ring TODAY! Older RRs are fitted with brass plugs, this # now goes over to the plastic #. I carry a spare one in my car (though mine are all fitted w/brass types I dug up. MG/West Coast British
