3.5L electronic ignition wiring?

Posted by Rick Harrison on June 20, 1998 at 21:54:28:

I'm upgrading my '79 RR to electronic ignition.
I have all the parts (new) for the amplifier mounts under the coil type as listed in my pre-87 factory parts manual (so this is not the distributor mounted amplifier type)
Here's the problem:

Distributor has 2 blk wires: 1 male bullet and 1 female bullet

Coil has 2 terminals: + & -

Amplifier has: 3 wires coming out of one end. 1 white w/ring term. and 2 white w/blk stripe. 1 of the white w/blk stripe wires has a ring term. on it, the other goes into a 3 pin 'rists' connector along with a black wire. The black wire has a .250" terminal on the other end. The 'rists' connector also has a white wire with a ring terminal at the end.
Aplifier also has 2 terminals (tabs) on another side 90 degrees away (1 is .250" wide and the other is .187" wide) and 2 ground tabs .250"
Where do all these wires go?
Do I need a 'ballast' resistor?
I figure the 'rists' conn. must go to the CPU, I don't have for engine speed.
The workshop manual I have is not very clear in this area.

Help!
