I wired my disco to pull an old airstream. The violet wire works fine. The charging mode is fine for the trailer battery as it is set up just as your truck is, or at least the airstream was. I used an ohm meter to check output to be sure that the current did not exceed 14 volts. I also installed a brake controller at the same time I utilized the violet wire in the hookup. I also realized that afterward, I had spent way to much money for the pig tail I bought from the dealer. Putting female plugins on each wire and using a meter and checking exactly what each wire provides is all that is needed. A hand full of male and female wire connectors available at any auto parts house, some color coded wire and you are home free and will save a bundle. Good luck.
