Wiring Info: Violet Wire?

Posted by Victor on December 27, 2000 at 07:32:25:

I have wired my trailer plug up and now found that I need to run a wire to the trailer battery to charge it while on the road. There is, in the back of the Discovery (1994), a violet (purple?) wire, about a 10 or 12 gauge, that is 'hot'. I seem to recall that this is what it is used for. Does anyone know if this is correct? Obviously, it needs to charge the rear battery but it also needs some type of regulation as to when to stop charging, (a regulator of some sort). I'd rather not have a hydrogen explosion in the back of the Disco if I can avoid it.

Thanks in advance.

Victor
