Battery light comes ON when no key in the ignition !!!!!

K reg Disco... the battery light comes up when the engine is switched off and the KEY ios removed form the ignition.
Will this cause the bettery to drain ?
If I disconnect the battery will the alarm system immobilise the vehicle when reconnected? Can this be reset by the Single switch alarm fob?
