Africa overland

I am currently preparing 2 RR for an overland drive across Africa from Cape Town to London.
The 2 vehicles are a 1979 2 door manual V8 and a 1982 4 door 4 spd auto V8.
They will have roof racks, bull bars etc.
We are trying to cover every possibility on checking the vehicles. Does anyone have any advice on what can go wrong that needs modifying before we ship our vehicles out to SA.
We don't have much info on what cannot take the heavy going.
eg reinforcing certain parts or replacing parts that have been known to go wrong in harsh environments.
We have tested them on both green lanes and on 4x4 sites to see what breaks.
